ADVANCEFUEL to hold third stakeholder workshop at EUBCE in Lisbon
The ADVANCEFUEL project cordially invites stakeholders from the biomass and bioenergy sector to join the project’s third workshop on the afternoon (15:30-18:30h) of 27 May. The workshop will be a side event of the EUBCE 2019 and will be organised together with the topic-related EU project BECOOL. Its title is: Optimizing value chains and developing sustainability criteria for advanced lignocellulosic biofuels - a shared view of the BECOOL and ADVANCFUEL project.
The ADVANCEFUEL partners from Utrecht University will be the main responsibles for the ADVANCEFUEL part of this event. Both projects will use the workshop to present relevant project results and to thoroughly discuss them with the participating stakeholders during a dedicated panel discussion.
Given the establishment of the revised sustainability requirements in the new Renewable Energy Directive (RED II), it is important to anticipate how those sustainability requirements will be implemented and measured, Furthermore, the aspired increase of advanced biofuels in the market will require an adaptation of sustainability criteria. In this context, the role of voluntary schemes and national initiatives for demonstrating sustainability compliance is becoming even more important.
A detailed agenda of this workshop will be available soon.
ADVANCEFUEL will also be represented during the main conference by two presentations:
- Innovative Lignocellulosic Cropping Systems in Europe: Combining Knowledge from Several Eu-Projects, presented by Sonja Germer, Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy, on 28 May and
- A Carbon Footprint Assessment of Multi-Output Bio-Refineries with International Biomass Supply presented by Ivan Vera-Concha, Utrecht University, on 30 May
